What will SWOT do?

SWOT is the short name for Surface Water and Ocean Topography. SWOT will make the first global survey of all Earth’s surface water. The satellite will survey at least 90 percent of Earth's surface, measuring and monitoring changes in the ocean, lakes, reservoirs, rivers and wetlands, providing useful data for society. SWOT will also keep a close eye on Earth's water to improve our understanding of ocean circulation and weather and climate predictions.
