What does GRACE-FO do?

GRACE-FO is the short name for the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow On. GRACE-FO measures changes in Earth’s gravity at least once every 30 days. This helps scientists track the movement of Earth's water across the planet. The satellite tracks changes in ice sheets, glaciers, underground water storage, water in large lakes and rivers, and sea level. GRACE-FO continues the original GRACE mission.
